EMDR Lebanon Association is organizing a 2-days workshop that is being presented by Dr. Arnold Jay Popky from USA. He is a counseling psychologist and an approved consultant in EMDR Institute, EMDRIA, & EMDR HAP. He was instrumental in the formation of the EMDR Institute over 25 years ago. Dr. Popky is the developer and trainer of the DeTUR protocol (Desensitization of Triggers & Urge Reprocessing).

This advanced EMDR workshop aims to teach clinicians who are trained in EMDR therapy the DeTUR^TM Model (Desensitization of Triggers and Urge Reprocessing). DeTUR is an Urge Reduction Protocol in dealing with addictions and dysfunctional behaviors. It is based on the adaptive information-processing model of EMDR, and it can used with as an integral part of a comprehensive plan of EMDR therapy.

DeTUR protocol has been used effectively by many EMDR therapists over the years in dealing with a wide range of addictions and dysfunctional behaviors, including substance abuse, overeating, gambling, sex, compulsive behaviors, etc. This workshop will consist of, didactic, visuals, demonstrations of the various phases with case examples from the author and other therapists. In addition, it will address some of the many different pitfalls in dealing with this population and methods to deal with the problems.

This workshop is only open to clinicians who are fully trained in EMDR Therapy, that is, those who have completed the Basic EMDR Training Course (Levels 1 & 2).

This workshop is being presented in English, and the handouts and materials will be both in English and Arabic.

At the end of the 2-days workshop, the participants will receive a “certificate of attendance” and 13 EMDRIA credits of continued education units (CEU).
