Advanced Clinical Supervision & Consultation Skills in Enhancing Competency in EMDR Therapy for Practitioners & Consultants-in-training: (5 CPD EMDR Europe Credits)

landing

Webinar Abstract

Developing an enhanced competency in EMDR Therapy requires professional development, of which robust clinical supervision plays an essential part in this. For a clinician, in many ways practising EMDR Therapy is rather paradoxical, it is relatively straight-forward to learn, yet is difficult to truly master – particularly when working with more complex clinical populations. Clinical Supervision of EMDR Therapy Practice is essential to ensure that an EMDR clinician’s practice is safe, informed, effective, efficient, evidenced and relevant. Proficiency and competency in EMDR Therapy requires intense commitment to life-long learning. However, for most EMDR Therapy clinicians this can often be arduous, random, erratic, painful, slow, frustrating, yet at the same time immensely rewarding.

This webinar will explore the core components of clinical supervision and consultation paradigms in regard to enhanced clinical practice in EMDR therapy for both Practitioners and Consultants in Training. It will map the journey from the commencement of EMDR therapy training through to clinical supervisors and educators. Various lenses will be used to explore the multi-faceted components of how best to use Consultation/ Clinical Supervision in using EMDR as a distinct psychotherapy.

The webinar will also consider practice-based aspects such as internet-based EMDR therapy clinical supervision for remote working, outlining the advantages and disadvantages of such an approach. In addition, a parallel processing model will be presented. This will also include competency requirements surrounding the use of technology, and how, in turn, this impacts on the clinical supervisory relationship and working alliance.

A new model of EMDR therapy clinical supervision will be presented outlining the triadic relationship between the EMDR client, therapist and clinical supervisor, highlighting how this may be used in enhanced practice and development.

EMDR Therapy Clinical Supervision is an empowering process to cultivate an EMDR Therapist’s uniqueness in their journey towards clinical competency and excellence.
