EMDR Workshop on Using EMDR therapy with OCD, Panic Disorder, & Phobias
The EMDR Lebanon Association organized a 2-day EMDR workshop to its members and the current trainees of the Basic EMDR Therapy Training Course. The workshop was titled “EMDR Therapy with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder, & Phobias”, and it took place in Ramada Plaza Hotel, Beirut on Apr. 6 & 7, 2019.
The workshop was presented by the accredited EMDR trainer, Dr. Derek Farrell (from UK) and it explored the following: (1) how the theoretical framework of EMDR therapy, the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP), can explain some of the symptoms encountered by individuals suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder, and Phobias; (2) how EMDR therapy can be a useful adjunctive, rather than distinct, psychological treatment intervention for these individuals; and (3) how the treatment impact of EMDR Therapy is greater if there are past traumatological experiences that are sufficient to generate a presently held level of disturbance.
Participants found this workshop to be very interesting, thought-provoking, and challenging. Dr. Farrell taught the participants how to identify the symptoms of the clients and how to work diligently with the intricate details of their issues by using EMDR Therapy.
At the end of the workshop, the participants received “Certificate of Attendance” and got 13 EMDRIA continued education units CEU.
