EMDR Europe Conference 2016, The Hague

Once again, EMDR Lebanon Association was present in the 17th EMDR Europe Conference 2016 that took place in The Hague, Netherlands, between the 17th to the 19th of June, 2016. The title of the conference was the “Sea of Possibilities”. Five members attended the conference: the president, Ms. Lina Ibrahim, the vice president, Mrs. Dania Dbaibo, the treasurer, Dr. Christine Nassar, and two members, Dr. Marwan Gharzeddine and Mrs. Rana Kalo Jaourdi.

The preconference workshops were remarkably informative and enlightening. The titles of these whole-day workshops were: (1) Introduction to the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (Dr. Bruce Perry); (2) Breaking the Cycle: EMDR therapy solutions for problematic anger, acting out and addictive behaviors (Dr. Mark Nickerson); (3) Masterclass 'Troubleshooting in EMDR' (Dr. Joany Spierings); and (4) Treating the whole child - Integrating child psychotherapies into the AIP/EMDR model (Mrs. Wizanski & Mrs. Sadeh).

The 2-days conference was filled with research-based studies and practices about the efficacy of EMDR Therapy and how to use different variations of it to suit different age groups and different psychological disorders. It had a beautiful impact on all participants.

EMDR Lebanon Association also attended on Monday, June 20, the Board meeting of EMDR Europe. Lebanon was accepted as an observer country. The administrative board of EMDR Europe Association is made up of representatives of each national EMDR associations in Europe. They meet twice per year, and they work on “establishing, maintaining, and promoting the highest standards of excellence and integrity in EMDR practice, research and education throughout Europe.”
